Paying for Your Degree

Many graduate students combine multiple funding sources to support their education. Several options may help make graduate study more accessible.

Funding options may include:

  • Private education loans
  • Employer tuition assistance programs
  • Monthly payment plans
  • External scholarships and private funding

Prospective students are encouraged to explore these options early in the admissions process.

Private Education Loans

Private loans are often referred to as “private educational loans” or “alternative loans.” Private loans are based on your credit history and can help bridge the gap between your other financial aid funds and the actual cost of your education. These loans are offered by private lenders and should be considered only after exhausting all other sources of funding.

The Office of Financial Aid is available to discuss available financial aid options with all students.

Preferred Lender Lists: DigiPen does not have any preferred lender arrangements. However, students can use the following Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form to start the application process with their lender of choice.

Employer Tuition Assistance

Many employers offer tuition assistance or reimbursement programs to support employees pursuing graduate education.

Consult your organization’s human resources department to learn about:

  • Reimbursement policies
  • Eligibility requirements
  • Documentation needed for approval

Graduate programs that focus on applied technical skills may align well with employer-sponsored professional development.

Payment Plans

DigiPen may offer payment plan options that allow you to spread tuition payments across the semester rather than paying the full balance upfront.

Payment plans can help you:

  • Manage educational expenses more predictably
  • Reduce the need for additional borrowing
  • Align tuition payments with personal financial planning

Details about available payment plans and enrollment procedures can be provided by the Accounting Office.

Scholarships and External Funding

You may also explore external scholarships, fellowships, or private funding sources that support graduate education in technology-related fields.

Opportunities may be available through:

  • Professional associations
  • Industry organizations
  • Nonprofit foundations
  • Employer-sponsored programs

Research scholarship opportunities early, as application deadlines often occur months before enrollment.
